   1.                  Introductions:

Persons in the meeting introduced themselves.

 2.   Review and Approve Minutes

The minutes were reviewed and corrected as follows:  Phil Sawyer was on the Phone last month..  A motion was made by Carol McDermott and Jim Dunn seconded the motion.  All present approved the minutes.

3.                  Updates

Financial Report

AZPFC will be receiving renewal funding from Mercy Maricopa, for the Coalition’s role to support people to participate in MMIC meetings.  There are 23 committees and 60 participants.  We pay stipends, train, support and recruit people.  The initial contract amount lasted 15 – 16 months.  Renewal funding requested is approximately $ 27,000.  The ending balance for the period ending May 31 was $ 8,848.  A motion was made and second to approve the financial report.  The motion passed unanimously.


Sherry Candelare reported that the Support Group is doing well.  Ronnie Johnson came to one of the meetings to listen to a lot of the questions and concerns raised.  The next support group session will be on Saturday July 18, 2015 from 10 – 12 at REN.  The meeting is held on a monthly basis.


Krysta Long – Thanks to Phil Sawyer for keeping up with the website. Phil reported that he had updated the agenda and minutes from previous meetings and they are posted on the website.

4.              Discussion related to Self-Directed care:

There was discussion about the concept of Self-Directed Care.  Various participants raised question or concerns they had about their needs and services they could not receive.  There was an agreement to keep communications open with AHCCCS about this issue.

5.              Discussion regarding Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act: 

The legislation is a follow-up from the past legislative session where an earlier bill had been introduced by Congressman Murphy.  Features of this bill will be discussed in the August meeting of the Coalition.
